People Intouch is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The Amsterdam office has three main advantages:

• People Intouch B.V. is located in the Netherlands, where privacy protection is of national concern and where the Dutch Data Protection Authority (CBP) is highly regarded. The Netherlands also has well balanced Labour and Works Council legislation and has a unique employer-employee negotiating structure. People Intouch is rooted in this ‘Rhineland’ way of thinking. To our Anglo-Saxon colleagues, all this remains an odd phenomenon and hard to come to grips with. They do not understand that one cannot just roll out a ‘hotline’ from head office, but that there has to be a consultation process to convince the countries and employee representatives in question
• Messages originating in Europe do not leave Europe. Furthermore, messages from the rest of the world are all received in Amsterdam. Therefore, there is no need to submit detailed applications to the various local data protection authorities
• No data is kept in the US. For many of our major clients this was an important reason to opt for the SpeakUp system. The EU and many European companies are very critical of the way the US deals with the protection of privacy. Particularly since the American authorities were granted extremely far-reaching powers in light of the ‘War on Terror’ and have proved to have an obsession with the collection of confidential information, European companies gladly keep the American authorities at a distance
